Program Description
Embark on a two-day adventure to discover some of Sri Lanka's most iconic landmarks. This tour combines ancient cave temples, an exciting wildlife safari and a visit to the legendary Lion Rock, one of the island's most famous UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
On Day 1, after hotel pick-up, travel to Dambulla to explore the spectacular Dambulla Cave Temple. Built on the orders of King Walagamba after his 14-year exile, this remarkable UNESCO World Heritage Site features beautifully preserved cave temples adorned with ancient Buddhist murals and numerous statues of Buddha.
In the evening, set off on an exciting jeep safari through Minneriya National Park, renowned for its large population of wild Asian elephants. After the safari, return to Dambulla for an overnight stay in a 3-star hotel.
On Day 2, continue to Sigiriya, also known as Lion Rock. This impressive UNESCO World Heritage Site rises dramatically above the surrounding plains and preserves the remains of an ancient royal fortress, palace foundations, defensive structures and remarkable frescoes painted on the rock face. Climbing to the summit rewards you with breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding countryside.
After the visit, return to your hotel.
