Program Description

Embark on a two-day journey through some of Sri Lanka's most iconic cultural and historical landmarks. From UNESCO World Heritage Sites and ancient royal cities to fragrant spice gardens and sacred temples, this tour offers an unforgettable insight into the island's rich heritage.

On Day 1, after hotel pick-up and a breakfast stop, you'll visit the spectacular Dambulla Cave Temple, also known as the Golden Temple of Dambulla. This UNESCO World Heritage Site consists of five caves carved into a massive granite rock, decorated with magnificent Buddhist murals and more than 150 statues of Buddha. It is regarded as the best-preserved Buddhist cave temple complex in Sri Lanka.

After a lunch break, continue to the ancient city of Polonnaruwa, one of Sri Lanka's former capitals. Explore its remarkably well-preserved archaeological remains, including the famous Gal Vihara, featuring impressive rock-carved Buddha statues, and the magnificent Royal Palace complex. The day concludes with an overnight stay in a 3-star hotel.

On Day 2, travel to the Matale Spice Garden, where you'll discover the island's rich spice heritage. Learn about cinnamon, cardamom, pepper, nutmeg, cloves and other spices while hearing fascinating stories about traditional cultivation methods and their culinary and medicinal uses.

The journey then continues to Kandy, the cultural capital of Sri Lanka. Visit the sacred Temple of the Tooth Relic, one of the country's most important Buddhist pilgrimage sites. You'll also admire the scenic surroundings, including Kandy Lake, colourful local markets and charming colonial architecture.

After a lunch break, return to your hotel.

The itinerary and programme may be subject to change.
