Program Description
Embark on a two-day journey through southern Tunisia and discover the spectacular scenery of the Sahara, mountain oases and famous filming locations. This adventure combines breathtaking desert landscapes with the rich cultural heritage of the Berber people.
After leaving Djerba, you will travel to the Tunisian mainland and cross Chott el Jerid, Tunisia's largest salt lake, famous for its shimmering salt crystals. After a short photo stop, you will arrive in Tozeur, where, following lunch and hotel check-in, you will continue by 4x4 jeep to the mountain oases of Chebika and Tamerza, nestled in the foothills of the Atlas Mountains. These spectacular locations were featured in films such as The English Patient and In Desert and Wilderness. In the evening, you will return to your hotel. An optional jeep excursion to the Star Wars film sets and part of the legendary Paris–Dakar Rally route is also available (additional fee applies).
On the second day, you will explore Tozeur, visiting its old town, market hall and the minaret of the Great Mosque (viewed from the outside). The journey then continues to Douz, known as the "Gateway to the Sahara", where you can choose an optional camel ride or quad bike adventure (additional fee applies). After lunch, you will visit Matmata, famous for its moon-like landscapes and traditional underground Berber houses, as well as a traditional Berber homestead, before returning to Djerba by coach.

Intense and demanding, but very well organized. The hotel during the trip was excellent, with no problems or complaints. The guide spoke Polish, but unfortunately not sufficiently.
The trip was very well organized and I highly recommend it. However, there are a few things I`d like to point out: 1/ the offer didn`t specify that the hotel would charge an additional 12 TDN per person for a resort fee (I`d already paid one at the hotel I was staying at). 2/ the off-road jeep fee wasn`t 50 TDN, but 60 TDN. 3/ the Star Wars town is very rundown, completely littered, and, worst of all, full of makeshift stalls set up by local vendors. This lacks the feel of the movie, and that`s the weakest point of this trip. Fortunately, the desert atmosphere, the mountains, the off-road jeep tour, and the camel ride make up for it all. I highly recommend it.
