Program Description

Palau Güell is one of Antoni Gaudí’s earliest major works and an interesting place for anyone who wants to discover more about his architecture. The residence is located just off the famous La Rambla and shows how, even at the beginning of his career, the architect experimented with light, space and unconventional solutions.

The palace was built between 1886 and 1890 for Eusebi Güell, an industrialist, politician and patron of the arts. The building was designed as an extension of the Güell family residence. During your visit, you will explore interiors filled with distinctive details and architectural ideas that later became characteristic of Gaudí’s work.

One of the most striking features is the way the architect used light and space. Each room has its own character, while the decorative elements reveal how bold Gaudí’s ideas were even at this early stage of his career. A visit to Palau Güell will introduce you to a lesser-known side of Gaudí’s architecture in Barcelona and give you a better understanding of how his style developed.

In 1984, Palau Güell was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. It is one of seven works designed by Antoni Gaudí included on this prestigious list. Your ticket also includes access to an audio guide, with both an express version and an option designed for children, allowing you to explore the palace at your own pace.
