Program Description

Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya in Barcelona is a place where art tells the story of Catalonia across the centuries. Its extensive collections include Romanesque mural paintings, sculptures, modern art and photography, offering a broad overview of different periods and artistic forms.

A particularly important part of the collection is the Romanesque mural paintings dating from the 11th to the 13th centuries, transferred to the museum from Catalan churches. Their variety offers an insight into the region’s medieval art and helps explain its importance to Catalonia’s artistic heritage. Among them are the paintings from Sant Climent de Taüll, which were removed from the church walls using a special strappo technique. Today, they are regarded as some of the most recognisable examples of Romanesque art in Catalonia.

The collection also features works by artists such as Gaudí, Casas, Titian and Velázquez. This wide range of works offers a closer look at different styles, techniques and ways of representing the world through art.

Your ticket includes skip-the-line entry, allowing you to start your visit more quickly and spend more time exploring the museum’s collections.
