Program Description

See where Gaudí’s architectural journey began and the project that laid the foundation for his later groundbreaking creations. Antoni Gaudí’s first major commission was completed in Barcelona between 1883 and 1885. Casa Vicens was designed as a summer residence with a garden for Manuel Vicens and Montaner, and its innovative approach marked a new stage in European architecture, helping to shape the beginnings of the Modernisme movement in Europe.

During your visit, you will step into a space where the young Gaudí first fully expressed his creativity. Rich decorations, inspirations from nature, vibrant colours and unusual combinations of materials reveal the ideas that he continued to develop in his later works.

The house has preserved many original elements of its interior design, offering insight into the architect’s vision at the beginning of his career. Your visit also includes the Casa Vicens garden, an important part of the original design, where Gaudí created a harmonious connection between the building and its natural surroundings.

Today, Casa Vicens is a museum dedicated to the work of Gaudí and a tribute to one of the most creative minds in architectural history. The legacy of this project can be seen in the master’s later creations, which continue to attract visitors to Barcelona.
