Program Description
Step inside one of Barcelona’s most distinctive buildings and discover a place where Modernisme architecture meets the story of Antoni Amatller - a well-known Barcelona businessman and chocolatier. Even from the outside, Casa Amatller catches the eye with its unique design and richly decorated facade.
The building was designed by Josep Puig i Cadafalch, one of the leading figures of Catalan Modernisme. Look closely at the facade to spot imaginative sculptures and reliefs depicting dragons, knights and fantastical figures. Its wealth of decorative details makes it worth taking a closer look.
During your visit, you will also step inside Amatller’s former residence. As you explore its rooms, you will see preserved furnishings and decorative features that offer a glimpse into the everyday life of the people who once lived here.
A visit to Casa Amatller is an opportunity to discover Barcelona Modernisme not only through its architecture, but also through the story of the man who once lived behind its ornate facade.
