Program Description
Discover the quieter and more authentic side of the Algarve on a journey through the Serra de Monchique mountains. Stunning landscapes, local traditions and charming villages await you, offering a true taste of southern Portugal.
The tour will take you to Foia, the highest peak in the Algarve, located 902 metres above sea level. From the summit, you can admire one of the region’s most spectacular panoramas, stretching across the southern coastline and the Atlantic Ocean. It is the perfect place to pause for a moment and enjoy the beauty of the Algarve from a completely different perspective. Next, you will visit the traditional António Medronho distillery, where you will discover the secrets behind some of the region’s best-known local products. During the tasting session, you will try the famous medronho - a traditional Portuguese spirit made from the fruit of the strawberry tree - as well as local honey and aromatic liqueurs prepared according to regional recipes. Another highlight of the tour is the charming town of Monchique, known for its traditional architecture, peaceful atmosphere and local craftsmanship. While strolling through its picturesque streets, you will see the Manueline church and small artisan workshops showcasing regional handicrafts.
The final stop will be Caldas de Monchique, a small spa village founded in Roman times. Famous for its thermal springs, lush greenery and relaxing atmosphere, it is the perfect place to unwind surrounded by nature.
