Program Description

Discover one of Venice's most fascinating districts on a guided tour of the Jewish Quarter, a place that reflects the city's long tradition of multiculturalism and openness. This unique experience offers an insight into the rich heritage of Venice's Jewish community and its lasting influence on the city's history and culture.

During the tour, you will visit the Levantine Synagogue and the Spanish Synagogue, discreetly hidden within buildings that appear to be ordinary residential houses from the outside. Their understated architecture reflects the unique history of the Jewish community that lived in Venice for centuries.

Your guide will introduce you to the story of the Venetian Ghetto, an area that originally housed the city's metal foundries before becoming the compulsory residential district for Venice's Jewish population in 1516. Along the way, you will learn about the daily lives of its residents and their significant contributions to the city's culture, commerce and development.

This walking tour offers a fascinating opportunity to understand the important role the Jewish community played in shaping Venice and why this historic district remains a symbol of the city's rich cultural diversity.

The order of the itinerary and the programme may be subject to change.
