Program Description
A full-day tour from Sorrento, combining two true icons of southern Italy – the ancient city of Pompeii, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and majestic Mount Vesuvius, one of the most famous volcanoes in the world. This experience is perfect for lovers of history, nature, and breathtaking views.
You will depart early in the morning from Sorrento. Upon arrival in Pompeii, you will begin an approximately two-hour guided visit with a guide, who will help you understand daily life in the ancient city frozen in time by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in AD 79.
Walking along the ancient streets, you will see highlights such as the Roman Forum, the impressive Basilica, the Temples of Jupiter and Apollo, and the historic thermal baths, once important centers of social life.
After the guided visit, you will have free time for lunch or relaxation, which you can enjoy at your own pace. Afterwards, the journey continues towards Mount Vesuvius – the iconic symbol of the Bay of Naples.
The coach will take you up to approximately 1,000 meters above sea level, where you will begin the walk towards the crater. A 20-minute hike leads you to the summit, where you will be rewarded with spectacular panoramic views of the Bay of Naples, the city of Naples, and the surrounding islands. Inside the national park, you will have around 1.5 hours of free time to admire the scenery and experience the power of nature up close. Return to Sorrento.
The order of sightseeing and the program may be subject to change.
