Program Description
A thousand years of history, two sides of the Danube and three hours to see how Budapest has evolved over the centuries. From historic Buda to the grand avenues of Pest - this tour will take you through places that tell the story of the Hungarian capital's past and continue to shape its character today.
Once you reach the Buda side, you'll stop in the Castle District, where a short walk will take you past Matthias Church and Fisherman's Bastion. From here, you'll look out over Budapest stretching across both sides of the Danube. You'll then cross Elizabeth Bridge and make your way towards Pest. Along the way, you'll see the Great Market Hall, known for its local produce and Hungarian flavours, as well as Europe's largest synagogue - an important part of the city's Jewish heritage.
You'll discover more chapters of Budapest's history on the way to City Park. Pass Europe's largest thermal spa and Budapest Zoo before stopping at Heroes' Square, where monumental statues commemorate important figures from Hungarian history. From here, you'll continue along the elegant Andrássy Avenue, passing the Opera House and St Stephen's Basilica. With each new stop, you'll discover just how many different stories can be found within a single capital. Buda and Pest, history and modern life - in just a few hours, you'll see how monumental landmarks and city streets come together to create the Budapest of today.
