Program Description
Discover the enchanting island of Patmos, one of Greece's most important pilgrimage destinations, where history, spirituality and breathtaking scenery come together. This full-day excursion takes you by ferry from Pythagorio to an island renowned for its remarkable cultural heritage and UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
After arriving on Patmos, you'll have the opportunity to join an optional guided tour of the island's most famous landmarks. Visit the impressive Monastery of Saint John the Theologian, a fortress-like monastery overlooking the island, renowned for its priceless collection of religious icons, rare manuscripts and centuries of history.
The tour also includes a visit to the Cave of the Apocalypse, where, according to Christian tradition, Saint John received the divine revelation recorded in the Book of Revelation. You'll then explore Chora, the island's picturesque hilltop capital, famous for its whitewashed houses, narrow streets and traditional architecture.
After the sightseeing, you'll have time at leisure in Skala, the island's charming harbour town. Take a stroll along the waterfront, browse local shops or relax at one of the cafés while enjoying the peaceful atmosphere.
After your visit, you'll board the ferry for the return journey to Pythagorio.
The itinerary and programme may be subject to change.
