Program Description

You will set off on a unique hike to the summit of Akramitis – one of the most unspoilt and lesser-known parts of Rhodes. It’s an ideal experience if you’re looking to see the island from a completely different perspective – away from the crowds and closer to nature, surrounded by spectacular scenery.

Your journey begins in the traditional village of Monolithos, located on the quieter western side of the island. After a short introduction, you’ll start your ascent along a trail winding through green slopes shaded by pine and cypress trees. From the very beginning, you’ll be accompanied by sweeping views over the Bay of Apollakia.

As you continue, the trail gradually becomes more demanding, with rocky sections adding a sense of adventure. The effort is quickly rewarded with numerous viewpoints – perfect spots to pause and capture unforgettable photos. After the most challenging part of the climb, the landscape opens up into a meadow-like area filled with fragrant herbs and Mediterranean vegetation.

Here, you’ll stop at the small chapel of Agios Ioannis, where you’ll enjoy a traditional Greek snack – one of the country’s well-known savoury pastries. It’s a perfect moment to rest and take in the peaceful surroundings.

From there, you’ll continue towards the summit. The final stretch involves a short rocky ascent, but the reward at the top is truly worth it. From the summit of Akramitis, you’ll enjoy 360-degree panoramic views over both sides of Rhodes, the Apollakia lake, inland villages, Mount Attaviros, and nearby islands. On clear days, you may even spot the Turkish coastline.

The descent follows a different route, leading through a shaded pine forest that provides a refreshing atmosphere even on warmer days. Throughout the hike, your experienced leader will ensure a comfortable pace and safety, while also sharing insights into the area’s nature, geology, and its status as a protected Natura 2000 region. You’ll also receive photos taken during the tour – a great keepsake from your experience.

This experience combines activity, nature and outstanding views, allowing you to discover a wilder side of Rhodes.
