Program Description

Get ready for an unforgettable adventure to the Akamas Peninsula – one of the last truly unspoilt regions of Cyprus. This half-day jeep safari takes You far away from busy resorts and into a world of dramatic cliffs, wild landscapes and hidden beaches. If You appreciate nature, open spaces and authentic scenery, this experience will show You a completely different side of the island.

Your journey begins at the famous sea caves, spectacular rock formations shaped by the waves of the Mediterranean Sea. Natural arches and sea-carved grottoes create a striking coastal landscape and the perfect setting for memorable photographs. These caves are also known as a shelter for Mediterranean monk seals, adding to the uniqueness of this stop.

Next, You will explore the impressive Avakas Gorge, considered one of the most remarkable natural wonders in Cyprus. Towering limestone walls rise vertically on either side, forming a narrow natural corridor. A walk of approximately 30–40 minutes allows You to discover the most beautiful sections of the gorge. The route is not demanding, although it includes uneven and occasionally slippery stones, so comfortable footwear is recommended. Much of the trail is shaded, making the walk pleasant even during warmer days.

The tour then continues to Lara Beach, one of the cleanest and most important nesting sites for sea turtles in the Mediterranean. For over three decades, a dedicated conservation project has been protecting endangered turtle species here. You will learn fascinating facts about their life cycle and the efforts made to safeguard them. The nesting season lasts from June to August, with hatchlings emerging until early October.

Finally, You will stop at Lara Bay, where there is time to relax and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. Between April and October, You may take a refreshing swim in the calm, turquoise waters or simply unwind with a coffee at the nearby beach café. It is the perfect way to end this nature-filled escape.

Please note that this is an off-road experience. Parts of the route follow unpaved tracks, so dust and bumpy sections are a natural part of the adventure – and the reason why You can reach places that remain untouched by mass tourism.

The order of visits and the programme may be subject to change.

The trip was short, perfect for a change from the beach. The distances weren`t too long, so it wasn`t tiring. The friendly driver and guide shared many interesting facts about Cyprus.
