Program Description

This full-day adventure takes you to the wild western part of Cyprus, combining a land expedition and a coastal cruise along the spectacular shoreline of the Akamas Peninsula. Expect swimming in crystal-clear waters, unspoilt nature and access to places far from mass tourism. It is an ideal choice for those who enjoy active sightseeing and want to discover one of the island’s most natural landscapes.

The first stop is Avakas Gorge – one of the most impressive natural wonders in Cyprus. The walk leads between towering limestone walls that narrow dramatically in places, forming a natural tunnel. The route is moderate and takes around 30–40 minutes. Comfortable, sturdy footwear is recommended. The raw scenery and peaceful atmosphere make this a truly memorable experience.

Next, there is a visit to Lara Beach, considered one of the cleanest beaches in the Mediterranean region. For more than three decades, this area has been home to a turtle conservation project dedicated to protecting endangered sea turtles. Here, it is possible to learn how these remarkable creatures are safeguarded and why the Akamas Peninsula plays such a crucial role in their survival. During the nesting season – from June to August – turtles lay their eggs on this beach, and hatchlings emerge until early October.

The programme also includes a stop at a viewpoint overlooking Akamas, offering panoramic views of rugged cliffs and rolling green hills. It is a perfect opportunity to take photographs and pause for a moment surrounded by nature.

The next part of the day is a cruise along the peninsula’s coastline. From the boat, hidden coves and small offshore islets can be admired. The highlight is the famous Blue Lagoon, known for its exceptionally clear, turquoise waters. There will be time for swimming and relaxation. With a bit of luck, sea turtles – and occasionally dolphins – may also be spotted.

During the day, a lunch in a local restaurant is included. Freshly prepared regional dishes are served, including vegetarian options. Wine, water and lemonade are provided with the meal.

The excursion also features off-road driving in safari-style 4x4 vehicles. Dusty tracks and bumpy sections are part of the experience and add to the authentic adventure atmosphere.

The order of visits and the programme may be subject to change.
