Program Description

Minca is a charming mountain village nestled at the foothills of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, where lush vegetation and a pleasantly cooler climate create the perfect escape from the heat of the Caribbean coast. It is a day filled with nature, local flavours and authentic encounters with the region’s culture.

The adventure begins with a visit to a traditional coffee farm. A local family will share with you the journey of one of Colombia’s most iconic products – from cultivation and harvesting to the roasting process. you will breathe in the aroma of freshly brewed coffee and discover why Colombian coffee enjoys worldwide recognition.

Next, you will set off on a walk along forest trails leading to waterfalls, natural pools and smooth rock slides. Surrounded by tropical scenery, you will have time to refresh yourself in the river and soak up the tranquillity of the mountain landscape. It is a moment to truly immerse yourself in the natural beauty of the region.

At midday, you will arrive at a bamboo house, where Jungle Joe – your host and enthusiast of local traditions – will welcome you. He will prepare a gourmet lunch inspired by regional flavours, while also introducing you to guadua – a Colombian bamboo often called “natural steel”, widely used in sustainable construction. It is a fascinating example of harmony between people and nature.

To conclude the experience, you will take part in a cacao workshop. you will learn about the history of cacao, its properties and its importance in Latin American culture. During the hands-on session, you will prepare your own energy bar based on cacao. It is an experience that combines flavour, tradition and creativity.

This excursion to Minca is more than sightseeing – it is a true immersion into the culture, nature and everyday life of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta region.

The order of visits and the programme may be subject to change.
