Program Description
Discover a place where history meets breathtaking nature. This excursion will take you to Lake Ohrid - one of Europe’s oldest and deepest lakes - and to the charming town of Ohrid, filled with historic landmarks, stone streets and Balkan atmosphere. It is the perfect choice for those who want to combine sightseeing with relaxation by the water.
The day begins with departure from the Durres area and a journey towards North Macedonia. During the comfortable coach ride, you will enjoy views of mountains, charming villages and picturesque landscapes along the way.
After crossing the border, sightseeing starts in the UNESCO-listed town of Ohrid, often called the “city of 365 churches”. Walking with your guide through its atmospheric stone streets, you will discover the town’s most important landmarks and learn about its fascinating history dating back to ancient times. You will see the ancient theatre from the classical Greek period and the Fortress of Tsar Samuel, offering panoramic views over the lake and the historic part of the town.
The programme also includes a visit inside one of Ohrid’s beautiful churches, where you will experience the unique atmosphere of the region’s Orthodox heritage.
Next, you will head to the lakeside promenade, where you can relax by the water or join an optional boat trip on Lake Ohrid. From the boat, the town reveals a completely different perspective, with shimmering waters and surrounding mountains creating unforgettable scenery.
At the end of the excursion, there will be free time for shopping, strolling through the town or enjoying lunch in one of the local restaurants. After a memorable day, you will return to Durres with beautiful memories and plenty of photos.
Please note that the order of visits and the programme may be subject to change.
