The island of Symi is from the smallest in the Dodecanese and has a remarkable beauty. The boat trip from Mandraki harbor takes 1-2 hours apprx along the Turkish coastline to reach Yialos, Symi’s small picturesque harbor. Colorful houses in neoclassical design, built in an amphitheater way, many small paved streets, numerous churches and monasteries, harbor side tavernas set a truly magnificent scene. Walk up to the most ancient village of the island called Chora, where the view is breathtaking. You will have lunch at a typical greek taverna (not included) and try many specialties of Symi island. There will be plenty of time to explore the shops, visit the sponge center, different types of sponges available and get a taste of the local life. The boat also visits Panormitis, the west coast port of the island, where you may visit the famous 12th century monastery of St-Michael the Archangel, protector of the locals and fishermen.
